  • The New York Red Bulls defeated the Philadelphia Union on Saturday night at Red Bull Arena, 3-2. Dax McCarty's 66th minute game-winning goal extended New York's franchise-record unbeaten streak to 14 games in MLS play.


  • With the win, New York secures a home game in the Audi 2016 MLS Cup Playoffs.
  • Jesse Marsch won his 32nd regular season game as head coach of New York, tying him with his mentor, Bob Bradley, for third-place on the all-time franchise list.


  • The Red Bulls are 14-9-9 on the season and 12-2-2 at home. With one home match remaining, New York has tied the franchise record for home wins in a season, set last year. New York's 12 home wins in the most in MLS this season.
  • Since the start of 2012, New York has the most home wins in MLS, with 56 at Red Bull Arena.


  • New York now sits on 51 points, in first place in the Eastern Conference. The Red Bulls are tied with New York City FC but ahead on tiebreakers with a better goal differential (+14).
  • Sacha Kljestan scored just before halftime, leveling the match after Philadelphia took an early lead. After playing a short corner to Felipe, Kljestan worked himself into space and took the return pass, putting a low shot by Philadelphia goalkeeper Andre Blake with his first touch.
  • The goal was Kljestan's sixth of the season, tying him with Mike Grella for second-most on the team.
  • Felipe and Dax McCarty both earned assists on the play.
  • Bradley Wright-Phillips put New York ahead just on the other side of halftime, running onto a lofted ball from Dax McCarty and firing a strike inside the far left post in the 47th minute.
  • BWP reclaims the lead in the MLS golden boot race with his 21st of the season. Although he is tied with David Villa on goals, he leads on tiebreakers (5 assists).
  • Dax McCarty put New York ahead again in the 66th minute, using his head to redirect a set piece from Sacha Kljestan. The goal was McCarty's third of the season - he also had two headed goals in the 7-0 win over NYC FC on May 21.
  • Per OPTA, McCarty is tied for the MLS lead with headed goals amongst midfielders since the start of the 2011-12 season. McCarty is tied with former teammate Tim Cahill, who also played as a forward.
  • Sacha Kljestan leads MLS with 17 assists this season, also a New York single-season franchise record. It was also the ninth game-winning assist of Kljestan's New York career, moving him ahead of McCarty and into a three-way tie for second-most in club history.
  • Luis Robles made his 138th consecutive regular season start in goal for New York.
  • Robles added to his franchise records for career wins (64).
  • The Red Bulls break next week with the rest of MLS for the FIFA International window. New York remains home to host Columbus Crew SC on Sunday, October 16 in the home regular season finale, and closes the regular season on the road at Philadelphia on October 23.
