BY THE NUMBERS: Previewing #NYvMTL in the Eastern Conference Semifinals

The New York Red Bulls continue the playoffs by playing the second leg of a home-and-home series against the Montreal Impact at Red Bull Arena. The Red Bulls trail 1-0 on aggregate goals after Leg 1.


Leg 2 will take place on Sunday, November 6 at 4 pm.

This Eastern Conference Semifinals matchup will determine who gets to face the winner of New York City FC and Toronto FC in the Eastern Conference Finals.


Here are some numbers to know ahead of Sunday’s matchup:


2: Bradley Wright-Phillips now has two Golden Boot awards, after winning in 2014 and 2016. He has scored the most goals over a three season span in MLS history as well.


0-1: The Red Bulls are coming off a 0-1 loss in the first leg of the Semifinals against Montreal. Matteo Mancosu scored the only goal of the match.


11: Didier Drogba’s number. He last played on September 28 and last started on September 24. Drogba has returned to training with the Impact as of Wednesday, November 2.


2: Sacha Kljestan is only the second player to record a 20-assist season, joining Carlos Valderrama (26 in 2000).


17: In the seventeen games (nine starts) since joining the team, Matteo Mancosu amounted six goals and five assists for the Impact.


2: Luis Robles is one of three goalkeepers to make every start for their team and one of two to play every MLS minute. Montreal goalkeeper Evan Bush started 33 of the 34. Bush is seventh in saves and Robles is eighth. Robles led the league in wins (16) and shutouts (11).


8-4-2: The Red Bulls have an impressive record all-time against the Impact, including a perfect 7-0-0 record at home.


17: Ignacio Piatti tied for the third most goals this season, with 17. He also is tied for the most assists on the team, with Drogba and Dominic Oduro.


12: Bradley Wright-Phillips and Ignacio Piatti combined for 12 game winning goals this regular season. Wright-Phillips led the league with seven and Piatti was tied for third most with five.


372: Number of miles the Impact will travel to play at Red Bull Arena, coming from Saputo Stadium.
