Match Recap: Red Bulls Fall to Real Salt Lake in Preseason Play

2017 Preseason Game 2 Post

TUCSON, Ariz. (January 31, 2017) – The New York Red Bulls fell to Real Salt Lake, 1-0, on Tuesday afternoon in a preseason match at the Kino Sports Complex in Tucson.

The match was New York’s second of the 2017 preseason as the club continues preparations for the Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League quarterfinals and upcoming MLS season.

The goal came in the 81st minute, with Jordan Allen heading home a cross from the wing.

The Red Bulls started with nine of the same players that played in Friday’s match against Portland. The two changes came at the outside back position, with Justin Bilyeu starting in place of Kemar Lawrence, and Sal Zizzo getting the nod in place of 2017 MLS SuperDraft pick Ethan Kutler.

Unlike Friday night, the teams played two 45-minute halves.

Homegrown goalkeeper Evan Louro made his preseason debut in the match, playing the final 30 minutes.

Newly signed center back Hassan Ndam entered the match in the 60th minute. Hassan arrived at Red Bulls camp late last night after New York completed his transfer from Cameroonian club Rainbow FC.
