HARRISON, N.J. (June 19, 2025) –** New York Red Bulls II (9-2-2, 30 pts) travel to Truist Point Stadium to face Carolina Core FC (3-3-6, 17 pts) on Saturday, June 21. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET with coverage available on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV. Josh Tolle will be on the call.
Red Bulls II are on their second longest win streak in club history with five straight wins. They sit top of the Eastern Conference table and are coming off their second consecutive five goal performance. The side earned a 5-2 victory over Chattanooga FC at MSU Soccer Park. Midfielder Nehuen Benedetti opened the scoring for his fourth goal of the season. Defender Juan Gutierrez scored his first goal of the season off a Benedetti free kick. Midfielder Rafael Mosquera scored a brace courtesy of a counterattack and penalty kick while forward Tanner Rosborough sealed the deal, tapping in a cross into the back of the net in the 97th minute.
Carolina sits in 10th of the Eastern Conference standings. They are coming off a 1-1 draw against Chicago Fire FC II. Midfielder Facundo Canete opened the scoring in the fifth minute, before Chicago equalized in the 43rd minute courtesy of a header from defender Chase Gasper. The match went to a five-round penalty kick shootout where Chicago earned a 5-4 advantage.
The two sides last faced each other on Sunday, May 4. New York opened the scoring in the 20th minute when Mosquera volleyed a bouncing ball in the box into the bottom left corner. Carolina evened the match in the 51st minute when Canete headed in a corner kick into the back of the net. Red Bulls II regained the lead in the 75th minute when Mosquera crossed a ball onto the six-yard box to forward Dennis Nelich who placed a shot into the bottom right corner. Core FC scored a last equalizer in the 96th minute when Canete hope on a rebound off a penalty kick. Level 2-2 after 90 minutes, the match went into the 10-round shootout, where Goalkeeper Aidan Stokes made three saves and converted the match winning attempt.
Following Saturday’s match, New York will return home to MSU Soccer Park to face FC Cincinnati 2 on June 29. Kickoff is set for 7:00 PM ET with coverage available on MLSNEXTPro.com.
