HARRISON, N.J. (February 13, 2023) – New York Red Bulls II have signed midfielder Ricardo Gorday to an MLS NEXT Pro Contract, the club announced today.
“We see Ricardo [Gorday] as a high potential player and are excited to see what he can do for us this season,” Sporting Director Denis Hamlett said. “Ricardo [Gorday] playing style fits very well with our philosophy and believe he will have a big impact on our success this season.”
Gorday, 18, has spent the last two seasons playing for Tauro FC in Liga Panamena de Futbol, which is the top division of professional soccer in Panama. He has made 12 appearances for the club and scored one goal in the Liga Panamena Apertura on May 7, 2022, in a 3-0 win against Arabe Unido. The midfielder won the 2021 Liga Panamena Clausura with Tauro FC.
“We are very excited to add Ricardo to our roster for our first year in MLS Next Pro,” said New York Red Bulls II Head Coach Ibrahim Sekagya. “He is a talented midfielder that we will help to continue his development, we are excited to see him on the pitch this season.”
Gorday has represented Panama at the youth levels, including the U-17’s and U-20’s. He mad his Panama U-20 debut on June 19, 2022 against Aruba U-20’s. He has made five appearances and has logged 251 minutes played. The midfielder scored his first career goal for the U-20’s against the Honduras U-20’s on June 28.
