FiveReasons081818

Winning back-to-back road matches and three of their last four, the New York Red Bulls (15-6-2, 47 pts) continue their three-match road trip at Vancouver Whitecaps FC (9-9-6, 33 pts) on Saturday at BC Place. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. ET with coverage on MSG, MSG GO and New York Red Bulls Radio in English and Spanish.

Here are 5 Reasons to tune into the match, presented by Franklin Group:

On The Road

The upcoming match against Vancouver will be New York’s second of three consecutive away games. The Red Bulls are 6-4-1 on the road this season.

After a 1-0 win over Chicago last Saturday night, the Red Bulls grabbed three of the potential nine points they hope to take home during their longest stretch of road games this season.

Parker’s Return

Tim Parker, a New York native, who played collegiately at St. John’s, makes his return to the Pacific Northwest, where he spent his first three MLS seasons as a member of the Vancouver Whitecaps. Parker was traded to the Red Bulls at the beginning of the 2018 season.

Parker scored his only career MLS goal on May 20, 2017 for the Whitecaps against Sporting KC. He started and played the full 90 in two career matches against New York.

Making History

Heading into Saturday’s match the Red Bulls are 15-6-2, four games away from setting a new franchise record for most wins in a single season.

The Red Bulls’ 15 wins this season lead MLS. The last time RBNY led MLS in wins over a complete season was in 2015, when the club won its second Supporters’ Shield with 18 wins. RBNY is six wins away from setting the MLS record for wins in a season. The current record of 20 wins in a season is held by the Seattle Sounders and Toronto FC.

Coast To Coast

Red Bull Arena and BC Place are 2,984 miles apart from each other, making the Whitecaps RBNY’s furthest opponent to travel to. The last time New York made the trip from the East to Western Canada for an MLS match was in 2016, where the Red Bulls defeated the Whitecaps 1-0.

New York will look to repeat history in their matchup on Saturday.

Dominance Over The West

The Red Bulls are currently 8-1-0 against their Western Conference opponents and looking to add Vancouver to their list of victories. New York has outscored the teams from the West 22-8 so far this season. Bradley Wright-Phillips has tallied at least one goal in five of the nine games and has scored six of his 22 goals.

A win against Vancouver would put New York in the first place position in the Eastern Conference standings; a draw would have RBNY tied for first with Atlanta United.
