The U-18ā€™s defeated the New England Revolution U-18ā€™s, 3-0, yesterday in Oceanside, California in their first group stage match of the Development Academy playoffs.

Defender Chris Tiao, who made his professional debut with NYRB II against Bethlehem Steel FC on May 31, opened the scoring for the away side in the 11th minute of action.

Forward Omar Sowe would increase the lead for NYRB U-18ā€™s with a strike in the 44th minute to give the away side a lot of momentum heading into the half. Sowe has scored nine goals in only 13 appearances for the U-18ā€™s.

New England would be frustrated for most the match and would have a player sent off with a straight red card in the 89th minute. Midfielder Jeciel Cedeno, who registered his first professional assist and start with NYRB II last week, would finish off the match by scoring the third goal of the match for the U-18ā€™s.

The U-18ā€™s are currently second in their group, due to goal differential, and will be back in action for their second group stage match on Wednesday, June 19, with kick-off set for 8:30 p.m. ET.
