American Exports: Jozy finally nets for Bursaspor

Jozy Altidore

AMSTERDAM – Jozy Altidore nodded in his first Bursaspor goal on Friday, but the hosts suffered a second-half meltdown in falling 3-2 to Antalyaspor.

The US national-team striker, on loan from Villarreal, buried a bullet header on the edge of halftime as the high point of a strong 88-minute outing. The defeat leaves Bursaspor winless in five in the Turkish Super Liga and losing hope of a title repeat.

Meanwhile in Sweden, Örebro midfield ace Alejandro Bedoya sent his side top of the Allsvenskan by volleying the second-half 1-0 winner against Syrianska. Just past the hour, the US international ended a corner kick game of area pinball by lashing home from the left channel to keep the home side perfect through two games.

In Bundesliga action, Ricardo Clark watched from the dugout as Eintracht Frankfurt rallied in the waning moments to secure a 1-1 draw with Werder Bremen that moved them five points clear of the drop zone.

One flight below, David Yelldell and Duisburg kept their slim promotion hopes alive by fighting back late for a 3-2 win over visiting Alemannia Aachen.

Round three of the Tippeligaen season kicked off with Mikkel Diskerud and Stabæk moving level on points with first place thanks to a fortunate 1-0 win over guests Valerenga.

The youngster worked an active 65 minutes as the hosts profited from a 38th minute own goal and plenty of wastefulness in front of goal from the visitors.
