Felipe opened the scoring at Providence Park against Portland Timbers with a long-distance goal. With time and space in the final third, Felipe lowered his head and struck the ball from more than 30-yards out. The drive flew directly into the top right corner past the diving Portland keeper to give New York the lead. Felipe’s strike proved to be the game-winning goal en route to a 2-0 victory.
