HARRISON, NJ (October 26, 2014) - Forward Bradley Wright-Phillips tied the MLS all-time single-season goals record today, scoring his league leading 26th and 27th goals of the season against Sporting Kansas City at Sporting Park in the Red Bulls' regular season finale (live now on ESPN2) tonight.

Wright-Phillips matched the mark set by Roy Lassiter (1996) and Chris Wondolowski (2012). In the 15th minute, Wright-Phillips put home a deflected Eric Alexander pass to give New York a 1-0 advantage. Then in the 70th minute, Wright-Phillips won the ball in Sporting KC's half, juked into the box and slotted it home.

The Englishman is enjoying his first full season in MLS after joining New York on July 24, 2013. Wright-Phillips was named to the MLS All Star Team this year and recorded a spectacular goal in a 2-1 MLS win over reigning German Bundesliga champion Bayern Munich August 6 in Providence Park in Portland, OR. He also recorded New York's lone goal in its 1-0 New York Cup win over Arsenal on July 26 at Red Bull Arena. Wright-Phillips has played in 32 games, 29 of which are starts. Last season, Wright-Phillips had a goal in seven games played.

Wright-Phillips' career started in 2004, when he graduated from Manchester City's academy and played for the Premiership side until 2006. The 28-year-old then moved onto English side, Southampton, where he amassed 111 appearances and scored 22 goals from 2009-11, Wright-Phillips featured for Plymouth Argyle before the former English Under-20 International moved to Charlton Athletic. At Charlton, Wright-Phillips scored 31 goals in 82 games. Prior to coming to New York, Wright-Phillips was most recently at Brentford on loan, playing 15 matches and recording five goals.
