BREAKING NEWS: Arena will not be on sidelines for NY match

NEW YORK — LA Galaxy coach Bruce Arena will not be on the bench for the side's big match with the New York Red Bulls on Saturday night due to a illness that struck him earlier in the week.

According to a statement released by the club, the 58-year-old Arena fell ill on Wednesday and was taken to the Hoboken Medical Center, where he was diagnosed with "viral complications." He spent two nights in the hospital and rejoined the team on Saturday morning.

Arena is expected to make a full recovery and will watch Saturday night's match from a private box at Red Bull Arena. In his absence assistant coaches Dave Sarachan and Cobi Jones will man the sidelines for the Galaxy.
