COUNTDOWN TO KICKOFF: Luis Robles closes in on MLS Ironman record

New York Red Bulls goalkeeper Luis Robles has started and played the full 90 minutes of 106 consecutive games, six shy of tying the MLS record of 112 held by Kevin Hartman.

Beginning on Sept. 29, 2012, Robles’ first start for the Red Bulls, the 2015 MLS Goalkeeper of the Year has not missed a single regular season minute. The goalkeeper has also played his way back into the U.S. Men’s National Team and received his first start since 2009 on Jan. 31, 2016, against Iceland.

Robles, who last year became the all-time club leader in wins (50), shutouts (28) and goals against average (1.29), is also on pace to break more club records in 2016. The goalkeeper is 19 starts and games played shy of tying Tony Meola’s franchise record 125 games played and starts in goal.

The reigning MLS Goalkeeper of the Year also ranks third in saves (309) and second in minutes played in goal (9,540).

On Sunday, March 6, the Red Bulls kickoff the 2016 season at Red Bull Arena in Harrison, N.J., versus Toronto FC at 1:30 p.m. ET (TV: MSG, RADIO: Red Bulls Radio English/Spanish). For information on getting to Red Bull Arena, visit the Transportation Hub
