Midfielder Daniel Edelman joined New York Red Bulls II preseason after spending majority of it with the first team.

Edelman participated in NYRB II’s second preseason scrimmage against Hartford Athletic this past Friday afternoon.

“It was definitely a positive to be back on the field again,” Edelman said. “I think as a team, we moved the ball well and we really handled the opponent’s pressure and intensity.”

After falling behind early in the first half, NYRB II found an equalizer late in the first half off a goal from forward Omar Sowe.

“I thought we fought back after going down 1-0 and of course we were unlucky to get a result, but I think it is a step in the right direction,” Edelman said.

With 10 days left until the home opener, Edelman and the rest of NYRB II are looking to improve on some things.

“I think we need to be more clinical in the attacking half,” Edelman said. “We were able to get the ball into Hartford’s end, but I think we need to be better on the ball and have better technical execution, so we can get that final pass and score some goals.”

Edelman and NYRB II will have one more opportunity before the 2021 USL Championship season opener, when they face New England Revolution II on April 23.
