DECONSTRUCTED: Breaking down RBNY's history vs. Toronto FC

HARRISON, N.J. --- The New York Red Bulls return home Saturday, May 28 at 7p.m. for their second meeting of the season against the Toronto FC, looking to build off their impressive 7-0 win over New York City FC during last weekend’s derby day.

The Red Bulls and Toronto FC have played 24 matches against one another since their first meeting in 2007. The Red Bulls are 12-7-5 during this stretch.

The Red Bulls, always with a strong showing on the home pitch against Toronto (9-2-1 at home) are looking to avenge an early season loss.  The Red Bulls – Toronto FC match-ups usually showcase a strong offensive attack as the team’s average 2.9 goals per match.

In seven of the 24 matches the Red Bulls have scored three or more goals and on eight different occasions been able to shutout the Toronto FC. Two of these performances, in 2009 and 2011, resulted in the Red Bulls walking away with 5-0 victories on their home pitch.

The Red Bulls will look to Bradley Wright-Phillips to continue his successful season with 5 goals and 2 assists.  In seven games against the Toronto FC he has recorded 3 goals on ten shots and 1 assist.

Supporting the Red Bulls in their quest for their sixth victory this season on Saturday will be red-hot goalie Luis Robles.  He currently sits on a 227-minute shutout streak and is looking to extend his streak and register his fourth shutout in 11 starts against Toronto.

Veteran Dax McCarty will look to use his experience against the Toronto FC, a 14 game starter, to help lead the Red Bulls to their 13th victory in the all time series.
