Every point is for the taking for the New York Red Bulls down the stretch -- and it starts on Wednesday night at Yankee Stadium.
"We’re trying to grab every single point that we can -- home or away, it doesn’t matter where we’re at, who’s playing on their team, who’s playing on our team," Kemar Lawrence said. "Any eleven that the coach puts out on the day for us, I feel like we’re just ready to grab all three points, and it’s just an aggressive mentality right now in the camp with all the guys, so its really about going there, getting three points, and moving to the top of the table."
Two of the top teams in the east square off, with the Red Bulls holding a one point advantage over NYCFC before the final New York Derby match of the year (48 to 47 points).
"We’re looking for every scenario possible and we just really want to grab three points," Lawrence said.
Tyler Adams said the Red Bulls will look to play their style of soccer at Yankee Stadium.
"It’s just one of those games that we have to go in there -- we can’t be naïve about it -- go out there, get an early goal, try to press them the way that we play and be combative about the whole game, so we’re going there for nothing less than three points," Adams said.
Head Coach Chris Armas said that these matches are too close to predict, especially at this point in the season.
"Trying to predict how this game will unfold is almost pointless," Armas said. "I think each team will have a little bit of a plan coming in of how exactly they want it to go, as we do, so it will be fun to see if we can impose our will on them."
The Red Bulls face off against New York City FC at 7 p.m. on FS1, FOX Sports Go and New York Red Bulls Radio.
