- Orlando City had their two-game winning streak and the five-game undefeated streak at the Citrus Bowl put to an end in a 2-0 defeat by FC Dallas on Saturday evening. It was their first game without Kaká, who was serving a one-match suspension.
- Bradley Wright-Phillips scored a pair of goals and added an assist, leading the Red Bulls to a 4-1 victory against the New England Revolution on Saturday evening at Red Bull Arena, their third victory in their last four league matches.
- The three goals scored by the Red Bulls in the opening 12 minutes marked the fastest three goals scored by one team from the start of a game in MLS history.
- This is the first meeting between the clubs. They will play their return match this season Sept. 25 at Red Bull Arena.
