Samuel Tetteh Get to Know

On Tuesday morning, the New York Red Bulls announced the arrival of Samuel Tetteh, who will be on loan for the remaining of the 2020 season. The Red Bulls have an option to exercise a permanent transfer.

In 2015, Samuel Tetteh participated in the U-20 World Cup held in New Zealand. Ghana were in Group B alongside Argentina, Panama and Austria. Ghana’s roster included players such as Benjamin Tetteh who now plays at Sparta Prague in Czech Republic, Yaw Yeboah who just arrived at Wisla Krakow in Poland, Joseph Aidoo who’s currently with Celta de Vigo in Spain, Prosper Kasim who’s with USL side Birmingham Legion FC, and Clifford Aboagye who’s currently at Xolos in Mexico.

Tetteh started all group stage games and the Round of 16 game against Mali, which Ghana lost 3-0. Mali went on to finish the tournament in third place after defeating Senegal 3-1.

In the group stage, Ghana didn’t lose a single game. They drew 1-1 against Austria and defeated Argentina 3-2 and Panama 1-0.

In the match against Argentina, Tetteh faced a team that included the likes of Giovanni Simeone (Cagliari) , Ángel Correa (Atlético de Madrid), Tomás Martínez (Houston Dynamo) and Kaku.

Kaku came off the bench in the 75th minute, while Tetteh completed the game with an assist and won a penalty for his team.

In the game against Panama, Tetteh faced former Red Bull, Fidel Escobar.

This past season with Austrian side LASK, Tetteh played 29 Bundesliga games, in which he scored seven goals and got seven assists. He participated in four Champions League qualifying games against Swiss side FC Basel and Belgian side Club Brugge.

He also participated in six Europa League games against opponents such as Rosenborg BK from Norway, PSV Eindhoven from the Netherlands, Sporting CP from Portugal and Manchester United from England.
