GIF RECAP: Red Bulls make history at Yankee Stadium

The fourth installment of the New York Derby ended with the same result as its three previous incarnations, although this one was a tad different.

On Saturday afternoon, the New York Red Bulls put a franchise-record seven goals past the New York City FC defense. And it all started rather quickly, with captain Dax McCarty heading home the game’s first goal less than three minutes in.

Nearing halftime, the Red Bulls would add to their lead through none other than Bradley Wright-Phillips, with some considerable help from Mike Grella.

You heard right.

They weren’t done there, as minutes later BWP would bag his brace in quite spectacular fashion.

Surprised? You shouldn’t be. Think that one deserves another look.

The second half brought more of the same, and McCarty found himself on the end of yet another corner kick to make it 4-0 in the 51st minute.

Even more to cheer about in the upper deck.

Five minutes later, Manhattan native Alex Muyl bagged his first MLS goal.

Thoughts, Alex?

Fellow substitute Gonzalo Veron joined the fun with less than 10 minutes to go, heading home yet another corner kick.

Is it hot in here or…

To cap it all off, Gideon Baah returned from injury to bag his first MLS goal in the waning moments of the match.
