Defender Hassan Ndam made his first team debut on the New York Red Bulls gameday roster against Chicago Fire on Saturday in lieu of an injury to centerback Aurelien Collin.

Ndam joined New York on January 31, 2017 from Rainbow FC Bamenda in his native country of Cameroon.

Ndam has featured regularly for New York Red Bulls II at centerback since his arrival, starting five matches, going the full 90 in each of them.

The 18-year old is not the first Red Bulls defender to progress to the first team after seeing time with NYRB II; reigning USL Defender of the Year and current Red Bulls starting centerback Aaron Long made similar appearances in the eighteen for the first team last MLS season leading to multiple starts for New York in the CONCACAF Champions League.
