The New York Red Bulls will continue their 2016 season this weekend with a Saturday night matchup against Columbus Crew SC.

The match will kickoff at 7:30pm Eastern Time on Saturday June 25th with coverage on MSG and the Red Bulls Radio Network on TuneIn.

The Red Bulls’ last match was the team’s first loss in weeks. They traveled to Salt Lake City to take on Real Salt Lake, where RSL scored a late winner off an unfortunate deflection to take the match 2-1. Gideon Baah scored the lone goal for the Red Bulls.

With a loss last match, the Red Bulls are still sitting at second place in the Eastern Conference with a 7-8-1 overall record. The Crew are currently at ninth place in the same conference with a 3-5-6 record overall, and a 3-1-3 record at home. The Red Bulls will be looking to improve their 1-6-1 on the road record at Columbus this weekend.

This will be Columbus and New York’s first meeting this season, and the teams will not meet again until late October. In the last six matches, the Red Bulls have five wins, and one loss; an impressive run that they will hope to continue against the Crew.

After this weekend’s match against the Crew, the Red Bulls will travel back to the East coast to take on the Philadelphia Union at Talen Energy Stadium for the US Open Cup. The match will kickoff at 7:00pm Eastern Time on Wednesday June 29th. The next league match will be Sunday July 3rd against rivals New York City FC. Kickoff for that match will be 12pm Eastern Time at Yankee Stadium.

NOTES

  • Crew SC extended their home undefeated run to six games, but had their overall winless streak stretched to two games, following their scoreless draw with the Montreal Impact on Saturday evening in Columbus.
  • Mike Grella netted the second two-goal game of his MLS career, scoring both goals as the Red Bulls defeated Seattle Sounders FC 2-0 on Sunday evening at Red Bull Arena. The Red Bulls had outscored their opponents 13-0 over the previous four games after that victory.
  • The teams met in a thrilling Eastern Conference Championship a year ago, Crew SC winning the first leg 2-0 at home, then holding the Red Bulls to a 1-0 win in the return match at Red Bull Arena to advance to MLS Cup.
  • The Red Bulls won the lone league meeting between the teams at Red Bull Arena last year, a 2-1 win on Oct. 3, their first home win in the series since 2012. The teams split the two regular season meetings in Columbus, each winning by a 2-1 scoreline; the Red Bulls have taken points on five of their last seven visits to Columbus, dating back to 2011, with two victories there in that time.
