On Saturday, May 28th the New York Red Bulls will continue their 2016 season at home against Toronto FC.

The match will kickoff at 7:00pm at Red Bull Arena with coverage on MSG and the Red Bulls Radio Network on TuneIn.

The Red Bulls are looking to continue their two-game winning streak, and are coming off a huge 7-0 victory against New York City FC last weekend. Dax McCarty and Bradley Wright-Phillips scored two goals each, Alex Muyl scored the first goal of his MLS career and Gonzalo Veron and Gideon Baah got the Red Bulls’ sixth and seventh goals respectively.

The Red Bulls and Toronto have already met once this season, in the first match of the 2016 season for both teams, resulting in a 2-0 loss for the Red Bulls at Red Bull Arena.

The Red Bulls are currently 4-2-0 at home, with a 5-7-1 record overall. Toronto FC’s record is 3-3-2 on the road, and 4-4-4 overall this season.

New York’s recent victories have propelled them into third place in the Eastern Conference, and Toronto is sitting just below them at fourth place. Both teams currently have 16 points.

After the game this weekend, the Red Bulls don’t play again until June 19th when they host the Seattle Sounders at Red Bull Arena. The match will kickoff at 7:30pm with coverage on Fox Sports 1 and the Red Bulls Radio Network on TuneIn.

NOTES:

  • The Red Bulls equaled the MLS record for the largest margin of victory in league history, with their 7-0 rout of New York City FC in the Hudson River derby on Saturday afternoon. Bradley Wright-Phillips and Dax McCarty each scored a pair of goals; for Wright-Phillips, he now has six goals in four games against the cross-river rivals.
  • Toronto FC concluded their first homestand with a second consecutive draw, reaching a scoreless result with Columbus Crew SC on Saturday afternoon at BMO Field. TFC went 1-1-2 in the homestand, coming after an eight-game road swing while renovations were completed at the stadium.
  • The teams are meeting for the second time this season. Sebastian Giovinco netted a first-half penalty kick then set a late insurance goal from Marky Delgado as Toronto FC took a 2-0 win in the season opener for both clubs, March 6 at Red Bull Arena.
  • The first match victory was the first ever for Toronto FC at Red Bull Arena. The Red Bulls were 5-0-1 all-time in Harrison before the TFC win; the triumph also snapped an eight-game home undefeated streak for the Red Bulls vs. TFC (7-0-1), which began Oct. 25, 2009. The Red Bulls are now 9-2-1 all-time in home matches vs. Toronto FC.
  • TFC is undefeated in their last three home matches vs. the Red Bulls, with victories in the last two meetings there. The Red Bulls last won in Toronto in 2013, a 2-1 victory at BMO Field.
