Gerhard Struber will usher in a new era for the New York Red Bulls, as he guides his team into the 2021 season, his first full year at the helm.
Struber will coach his first match at Red Bull Arena on Saturday night, deploying the first Starting XI of the year.
Newcomer Fábio and Brian White will start up top, while wunderkid Caden Clark, another newcomer in Youba Diarra, Cristian Cásseres Jr. and Captain Sean Davis in the midfield.
Along the back line, new addition Andrew Gutman starts alongside Aaron Long, Sean Nealis and Kyle Duncan.
Carlos Coronel will make his first start for RBNY in goal.
New York will have Amro Tarek, Andrés Reyes, Cameron Harper, Wikelman Carmona, Florian Valot, John Tolkin, Tom Barlow and Danny Royer on the bench. Ryan Meara will serve as the backup goalkeeper.
As a reminder, in MLS this season, each team can select a maximum of 20 players (11 starters and nine substitutes) for its official match roster. Teams are allowed a maximum of five Normal Substitutions per game to be used over the course of three opportunities, excluding half-time, but including cooling and/or drink breaks.
Additionally, MLS has implemented the concussion substitutes initiative. This new initiative allows teams to make up to two concussion substitutions during a match to replace players with concussions or suspected concussions, regardless of the number of normal substitutions already used. If a team elects to use a concussion substitution, its opponent will receive an additional substitution and opportunity.
Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. ET with coverage on MSG, MSG GO and New York Red Bulls Radio in English and Spanish via TuneIn, the New York Red Bulls app and NewYorkRedBulls.com.
New York Red Bulls Radio begins at 7 p.m. EST with Countdown to Kickoff, presented by Honda, hosted by Matt Harmon and Steve Jolley. Stefano Fusaro will carry the Spanish play-by-play responsibilities, beginning at 7:30 p.m. EST.
