INSIDE THE 18: Aaron Long Starts as Red Bulls Take On Atlanta United FC

Aaron Long and Luquinhas are both back on the matchday roster ahead of Atlanta United FC coming to Red Bull Arena on Thursday evening. Long is back in the Starting XI for New York.

Long, John Tolkin, Sean Nealis, Tom Edwards and Cameron Harper start along the backline, ahead of Carlos Coronel in goal.

The Red Bulls have won four-straight home games across all competitions, outscoring their opponents, 12-2, in those matches. New York have posted back-to-back clean sheets at Red Bull Arena for the first time since 2021. The Red Bulls have 27.15 expected goals this season, which is third highest in MLS.

Frankie Amaya and Cristian Cásseres Jr. lock down the defensive midfield.

Patryk Klimala, Lewis Morgan and Omir Fernandez lead the attack for RBNY.

Morgan has played in seven career matches against Atlanta United FC, while he was with Inter Miami CF the last two seasons. In those seven matches, he has posted three goals and two assists, which leads active New York players. Morgan’s seven MLS goals, which leads the club, ranks tied for third among active MLS midfielders this season.

Head Coach Gerhard Struber has Juan Castillo, Jason Pendant, Dru Yearwood, Luquinhas, Steven Sserwadda, Zach Ryan, Serge Ngoma and Tom Barlow available off the bench. Ryan Meara will serve as the backup goalkeeper.

Dylan Nealis will miss the match due to yellow card accumulation.
