INSIDE THE 18: Decision Day on Tap for New York

On Decision Day, with a home match on the line, New York will deploy Elias Manoel, Lewis Morgan and Luquinhas in the attack.

With a win, the Red Bulls will lock up a first round home match in the Audi 2022 MLS Cup Playoffs.

Luquinhas has scored seven goals and added six assists in his first season with New York across all competitions. The only time New York has faced Charlotte FC at home was on May 25 in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Round of 16, where the Red Bulls defeated Charlotte FC, 3-1. The Brazilian midfielder notched the last assist on New York’s third goal.

Frankie Amaya and Daniel Edelman will lock down the defensive midfield.

This will be the second overall regular season meeting between New York and Charlotte, with Charlotte winning the first matchup on June 11 at Bank of America Stadium.

John Tolkin and Dylan Nealis will work as wingbacks. Aaron Long, Sean Nealis and Andrés Reyes work as centerbacks.

The Red Bulls will have the opportunity to move into third place in the Eastern Conference with a win against Charlotte FC and a loss for New York City FC against Atlanta United FC. Charlotte FC are unbeaten in their last four MLS matchups, but were eliminated from MLS Playoff contention after a 2-2 draw against Columbus Crew SC on Wednesday.

Carlos Coronel starts in goal.

Hassan Ndam, Kyle Duncan, Steven Sserwadda, Wiki Carmona, Omir Fernandez, Serge Ngoma, Tom Barlow and Patryk Klimala are available off the bench. Ryan Meara will serve as the backup goalkeeper.
