INSIDE THE 18: Leagues Cup On The Line vs. Atlético San Luis

Advancing with a win or a draw, regardless of the outcome of the penalty kicks, the New York Red Bulls are looking to stay alive in Leagues Cup 2023.

Facing off against Atlético San Luis from Red Bull Arena, RBNY will see Dante Vanzeir and Tom Barlow on the pitch for the opening whistle. 

Luquinhas, Omir Fernandez, Frankie Amaya and Dan Edelman make up the midfield for New York.

Atlético de San Luis was promoted to Liga MX in 2019 and currently sit in sixth place in Liga MX Apetura after three matches with a 1-1-1 record. San Luis suffered a 5-1 defeat to New England Revolution at Gillette Stadium on Wednesday night.

John Tolkin, Sean Nealis, Hassan Ndam and Cameron Harper start along the backline. Carlos Coronel starts in goal for the Red Bulls.

Coronel recorded his sixth clean sheet of the season across all competitions after tying New England 0-0 on Saturday, July 22. Coronel has tallied 29 career shutouts for the Red Bulls across all competitions with 26 MLS, 2 Open Cup, and 1 Leagues Cup. The goalkeeper helped New York win the penalty shootout in their first Leagues Cup match after saving a shot in the last turn.

Head Coach Troy Lesesne will have Andrés Reyes, Matt Nocita, Kyle Duncan, Jayden Reid, Peter Stroud, Dru Yearwood, Ronald Donkor, Ibrahim Kasule, Wiki Carmona and Elias Manoel. Ryan Meara and AJ MArcucci will be the backup goalkeepers.
