INSIDE THE 18: Peter Stroud Makes First MLS Start vs. Atlanta United FC

Peter Stroud will make his first start of his MLS career on Saturday night as the New York Red Bulls take on Atlanta United FC at 7:30 PM ET on MLS Season Pass.

The Red Bulls are currently on a four-match unbeaten streak, which began with a 0-0 draw against Nashville SC on March 4. This is New York’s longest unbeaten streak since August 2022, which ran from August 17 to August 31. In their last six matches against Atlanta United FC, New York have only allowed two goals and have scored seven.

Cory Burke, Luquinhas, Cristian Cásseres Jr. and Omir Fernandez push the attack.

Casseres, Jr. has made five career appearances against Atlanta United FC, where he has tallied three career assists. In the last match against Atlanta, Casseres, Jr. recorded his first career multi-assist match in MLS, after he tallied assists on both goals. The Venezuelan midfielder has recorded seven assists in his last 10 MLS regular season matches.

Stroud and Frankie Amaya will lock down the defensive midfield.

Along the backline, Cameron Harper, Andrés Reyes, Sean Nealis and Kyle Duncan will look to keep their MLS-record-low shots on goal streak moving along.

Carlos Coronel starts in goal for New York.

This will be the 13th regular season meeting between New York and Atlanta, with the Red Bulls holding the series advantage with an 8-0-4 mark. The Red Bulls have recorded a 3-0-2 regular season record at Mercedes-Benz Stadium against Atlanta United FC.

On the bench, New York will have Ryan Meara, Hassan Ndam, Matt Nocita, Dylan Nealis, Dru Yearwood, Daniel Edelman, Elias Manoel, Tom Barlow, Dante Vanzeir.

Lewis Morgan will be held out of the match as he works back from injury, as will John Tolkin, who took a knock in training.
