INSIDE THE 18: Red Bulls Go Cross-Country to Face Seattle Sounders FC

The New York Red Bulls traveled across the country to take on Seattle Sounders FC at 10:30 PM ET on Saturday.

Dante Vanzeir starts for New York, with Tom Barlow and Dru Yearwood also getting the nod.

This will be the 15th overall meeting between New York and Seattle, with Seattle holding the advantage with a 6-5-3 mark. 

Cristian Cásseres Jr. and Peter Stroud lock down the defensive midfield.

Casseres, Jr. tallied his second assist of the season in New York’s latest MLS victory on Saturday, May 20. Casseres, Jr. now has tallied 19 assists in his MLS career, which is the most by any active Red Bulls player.

John Tolkin and Cameron Harper work on the wings, with Sean Nealis, Hassan Ndam and Dylan Nealis starting along the back line. 

New York are unbeaten in their last three MLS regular season matches, where they have posted a mark of 2-0-1. 

Carlos Coronel starts in goal.

The Red Bulls have only allowed 37 shots on goal, which is the lowest in MLS. New York ranks first in the MLS in aerial duels won and has three players in the Top 10 of that category: Sean Nealis, Andrés Reyes and Cory Burke.

Head Coach Troy Lesesne will have Burke, Elias Manoel, Lewis Morgan, Luquinhas, Wiki Carmona, Frankie Amaya, O’Vonte Mullings and Matt Nocita available off the bench. Ryan Meara will serve as the backup goalkeeper.

Amaya and Morgan return to the matchday rosters after extended absences due to injury.

Andrés Reyes, Omir Fernandez, Serge Ngoma, Kyle Duncan and Steven Sserwadda remain sidelined. Daniel Edelman is away from the team on international duty.
