INSIDE THE 18: Red Bulls Kick Off Open Cup Campaign vs. Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC

The New York Red Bulls begin their U.S. Open Cup campaign in the Round of 32 vs. Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC on Tuesday night.

Wiktor Bogacz makes his first start for the first team, on the pitch for the opening whistle for RBNY.

Kickoff is set for 9:30 p.m. ET with coverage on Paramount+, CBS Sports Golazo Network, and New York Red Bulls Radio presented by Sports Illustrated in English via the New York Red Bulls app and NewYorkRedBulls.com.

Head Coach Sandro Schwarz will Wiki Carmona and Mohammed Sofo in the attack, as well.

Sofo has tallied a goal contribution in his first two career Open Cup appearances.

Ronald Donkor and Peter Stroud lock down the central midfield for New York.

Switchbacks FC won the USL Championship Final last season and advanced to the Round of 32 of the 2025 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup after defeating One Knoxville SC, 3-2. The Red Bulls have posted a 16-8-1 mark in their opening matches of the U.S. Open Cup, including a 3-1-1 mark in their last five.

Tim Parker captains the side and starts alongside Noah Eile and Alexander Hack and centerback. Raheem Edwards and Dennis Gjengaar round out the field players.

A.J. Marcucci starts in goal for New York.

Off the bench, Schwarz will have six field players and one goalkeeper, per competition rules, with Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, Carlos Coronel, Daniel Edelman, Emil Forsberg, Julian Hall, Sean Nealis and Omar Valencia available.

Valencia tallied his fourth MLS assist of the season on May 3, which ranks tied for first among active MLS defenders. Valencia has made two career Open Cup appearances.
