INSIDE THE 18: Red Bulls Running Wild in First Match of Audi 2023 MLS Cup Playoffs 


The New York Red Bulls host Charlotte FC in the first match of the Audi 2023 MLS Cup Playoffs, a Wild Card Match at Red Bull Arena on Wednesday evening.

Making the postseason for the 14th year in a row, RBNY will look to improve on their 3-0-0 record in Wild Card matches.

Elias Manoel and Tom Barlow will get the nod up top for New York, with Luquinhas, Omir Fernandez, Daniel Edelman and Frankie Amaya in the midfield.

Manoel has three goals in three matches against Charlotte FC, including a brace against them at Red Bull Arena on Decision Day in 2022.

John Tolkin, Sean Nealis, Andrés Reyes and Kyle Duncan start along the backline. Carlos Coronel starts in goal.

With his goal against Nashville, defender John Tolkin now has 11 goal contributions across all competitions in 2023 (three goals and 8 assists).

Off the bench, Head Coach Troy Lesesne will have Serge Ngoma, Jorge Cabezas Hurtado, Wiki Carmona, Cameron Harper, Peter Stroud, Dru Yearwood, Dylan Nealis and Ryan Meara available.

Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV and New York Red Bulls Radio in English via TuneIn, the New York Red Bulls app, and

Dante Vanzeir, Cory Burke, Lewis Morgan and Hassan Ndam are all sidelined.
