INSIDE THE 18: Red Bulls, Union Square Off in Open Cup Quarterfinals

The New York Red Bulls are down in Chester to take on the Philadelphia Union on Wednesday night in the rescheduled U.S. Open Cup Quarterfinals.

Head Coach Sandro Schwarz will deploy A.J. Marcucci in goal, with Sean Nealis, Noah Eile, Raheem Edwards and Kyle Duncan along the back line.

Daniel Edelman dons the captain’s armband and pairs with Peter Stroud in the central midfield.

The Red Bulls have posted a 6-3-1 career mark in U.S. Open Cup quarterfinals matches and have posted a 3-1-0 mark in their last four road U.S. Open Cup matches.

The quartet of Serge Ngoma, Julian Hall, Wiki Carmona and Wiktor Bogacz push the attack for New York.

With an abbreviated bench due to tournament guidelines, Schwarz and the Red Bulls will have Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, Carlos Coronel, Emil Forsberg, Dennis Gjengaar, Alexander Hack, Adri Mehmeti and Dylan Nealis available.

The Red Bulls are unbeaten in their last four matches across all competitions, including a 2-1 win over Real Salt Lake in their most recent match on August 10.

Ronald Donkor, Omar Valencia and Mohammed Sofo are out with an illness. Lewis Morgan and Cameron Harper remain sidelined.
