As the MLS season screams toward the postseason, every team is "fighting for every inch, fighting for every last play," according to New York Red Bulls Head Coach Jesse Marsch.
Immediately after the game, Marsch said he knew what the team will have to work on this week and moving forward for the rest of the season.
"The urgency and understanding of what games are like in this league, especially late in the season," Marsch said. "You can't ever allow yourself to step on the field for two seconds, two minutes, 20 minutes, 30 minutes, and play like it's just going to be another game. Every team right now is fighting, fighting for every inch, fighting for every last play."
The Red Bulls will return to their training facility on Sunday for a regeneration session before undertaking training for their match against the Chicago Fire.
Felipe said that he almost would have preferred the teams stay at even strength, instead of having a man advantage after a second yellow card was issued midway through the first half.
"We just need to be calmer on the ball, create chances and capitalize, and get to the man quicker," Felipe said. "That was the issue tonight."
Marsch said the team will focus on getting in the right mentality the moment they step on the field.
"If you don't meet that standard, then you set yourself up for failure," Marsch said. "We did that too much tonight and we're going to figure out a way to correct that to make sure that's not who we are anymore."
