KEYS TO THE GAME, pres. by Honda: Inter Miami CF vs. New York Red Bulls

Keys to the Game 092320

The New York Red Bulls will once again head away from Red Bull Arena and visit Inter Miami CF for the first time. Kickoff is set for 8:00 p.m. ET on Wednesday.

Here are the Keys to the Game, presented by Honda:

Latest Win and Draw Came on the Road

Although the Red Bulls haven’t been fortunate at home as of late, they have gotten a draw and win in their recent visits. They drew 1-1 at New England Revolution on August 29 and won 2-0 at D.C. United on September 12.

These recent road results should pave the way as they visit Inter Miami CF Stadium for the first time.

So far this season, excluding the three games at the MLS is Back Tournament, New York has scored four goals in four away games.

Scoring Numbers Need to Improve

The Red Bulls are one of three clubs in the Eastern Conference to have single digit scoring numbers. The other two teams are FC Cincinnati and Nashville SC.

After the 1-0 loss against FC Cincy, Interim Head Coach Bradley Carnell addressed what needs to improve in order to raise those scoring numbers.

“Like I said earlier, being diligent with the chances we create, getting into areas and playing the type of balls that we think are our strengths as per game plans,” said Carnell. “We’d like to be a little bit more threatening in the wider areas, we’d like more movement off the ball, we’d like people to take more shots. There’s a lot on our agenda, there’s a big to-do list, and we just keep filing away at it every training session. The guys are staying afterwards, it’s not for lack of training, not for lack of trying, there’s guys staying after, doing the extra bit. We have to feel that it’s a matter of time.”

In the 2020 season, Kaku, Florian Valot, Kyle Duncan, Danny Royer, Aaron Long, Omir Fernandez, Cristian Cásseres Jr. have been New York’s goalscorers.

Inter Have One Loss in Last Five Games

After getting a 2-1 road win against Atlanta United, Inter Miami FC will be looking to extend their positive streak, which includes two wins and two draws in their last five games.

Rodolfo Pizarro has three goals and four assists in 11 starts, while Blaise Matuidi already has three starts after arriving from Juventus.

Even with this positive run of games, Inter Miami only has 11 points, but a win against RBNY will have them both with 14.
