The New York Red Bulls (11-11-7, 40 pts.) battle the Portland Timbers (10-9-9, 39 pts.) at Providence Park for the first time since 2019 on Saturday, September 13.
Here are the Keys to the Game, presented by Toyota:
Clean Coronel
Carlos Coronel has turned in nine clean sheets in MLS play this season. That mark has him tied for second in MLS this year.
With one more clean sheet, Coronel would become the second goalkeeper in club history with multiple 10+ shutout seasons.
Coronel has played Portland once before, allowing one goal.

Long Time
This is New York’s first visit to Portland since 2019.
Last time out at Providence Park, a 2-0 New York Red Bulls win, Kyle Duncan scored his first MLS goal.
Duncan is the only player on the Red Bulls roster to notch a goal against Portland, as the two teams haven’t met since 2022, a 1-1 draw at Sports Illustrated Stadium.
Western Ways
Emil Forsberg is thriving this season when playing teams from the opposite conference.
Forsberg has seven goal contributions in five matches against Western Conference opponents this season.
Forsberg has scored 21 goals across all competitions for New York and is one goal shy of tying Sacha Kljestan for fifth place in franchise history for most goals scored by a midfielder.
The Swedish international is one assist shy of becoming the fifth player in franchise history to record 10+ goals and assists in a single season across all competitions.
