Marsch: Veron Is An Option To Start In Leg 2

Gonzalo Veron

Gonzalo Veron is an option to start in Leg 2 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals, Jesse Marsch said on Wednesday.

Marsch said the team is looking at different matchups that New York could roll out, as he anticipates a similar lineup from Montreal. Veron and Daniel Royer's names came up as options to start or to come off the bench.

"I think he’s an option to start for this week, as well as an option for more minutes off the bench," Marsch said.

The head coach praised Veron's time on the field in Leg 1.

"I thought he came in and made a great impact," Marsch said. "He’s very good in open spaces. He was aggressive."

Veron has three goals in six starts and 631 minutes this season for the Red Bulls. In his last start, against D.C. United on September 11, he scored and had two shots on goal in 65 minutes before being subbed off.

Select tickets are still available for the Eastern Conference Semifinals at Red Bull Arena on November 6, presented by Speedway!
