HARRISON, N.J. (April 18, 2022) –The New York Red Bulls (3-2-2, 11 pts.) will open up their 2022 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup run with a third-round matchup against Hartford Athletic (0-4-1, 1 pts.). Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. ET with coverage on ESPN+, and New York Red Bulls Radio in English and Spanish via TuneIn, the New York Red Bulls app and NewYorkRedBulls.com.

New York Red Bulls Radio begins at 6 p.m. ET with Countdown to Kickoff, presented by Honda, hosted by Matt Harmon and Steve Jolley. Stefano Fusaro will carry the Spanish play-by-play responsibilities, beginning at 6:30 p.m. ET.

The Red Bulls will be entering their 24th Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup and their first match in the tournament since June 11, 2019. This will be the first-ever meeting between New York and Hartford Athletic, who plays in the USL Championship. New York have tallied a 15-8-0 mark in their first-round matchups in the U.S. Open Cup, while being 4-1-0 in their last five.

New York Captain Aaron Long has made the most U.S. Open Cup appearances by a field player on the current roster with six. Long made his Open Cup debut in the first match of the Red Bulls 2017 Open Cup run, which saw the club reach their second U.S. Open Cup Final in franchise history. He scored his first goal in the tournament on June 6, 2018, against New York City FC.

New York will play their fourth match on the road across all competitions this season and have logged a 3-0-0 record. The Red Bulls have only allowed two goals on the road, which is tied for the fourth lowest in MLS. New York has logged 2.96 expected goals against, which is the third lowest in the league this season.

Following Wednesday’s match, New York will continue MLS regular season action on the road for two matches, with the first match coming against Orlando City SC on Sunday, April 24.
