HARRISON, N.J. (June 26, 2015) - The New York Red Bulls are set for the first trip to the Bronx on Sunday to take on New York City FC in the second edition of the New York Derby.
Kickoff at Yankee Stadium is set for 5 p.m., with coverage on ESPN beginning at 4:30 p.m. ET.
The Red Bulls took the first meeting, 2-1, on May 10. Bradley Wright-Phillips struck twice as the home side earned victory with 10 men in front of a sold-out crowd at Red Bull Arena.
New York will look to build on the momentum of a 1-0 midweek victory over Real Salt Lake that snapped a four-game losing streak. Mike Grella found the game-winner in the fourth minute, while Luis Robles earned his fourth clean sheet of the season, and 23rd of his career.
Wright-Phillips leads the Red Bulls in both goals (5) and assists (4). Lloyd Sam and Grella each have four goals, while seven different players have found the back of the net for New York.
New York City FC and David Villa have found their form of late. NYC FC are winners of three straight, evening out their record to 4-7-5. Villa has four goals in the last four matches, including both in a 2-0 win over Toronto FC in the most recent outing. Villa leads the side with six goals, and his three assists are tied for the team lead with Kwadwo Poku.
