Match Preview: NYRB II Concludes July Slate with Trip to Face Sacramento Republic FC

HARRISON, N.J. (July 29, 2021) – New York Red Bulls II (3-7-4, 13 points) travels to face Sacramento Republic FC (3-6-4, 13 points) on Saturday, July 31. Kickoff between New York and Sacramento is set for 11 p.m. ET. Coverage is available on ESPN+.

The match will mark the first-ever meeting between New York and Sacramento, and just the second time that New York will play on the West Coast (April 28, 2018 at LA Galaxy II). It is the first time this season that New York will face a club outside of the Atlantic Division.

New York fell to Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC, 3-1, on Friday, July 23 at MSU Soccer Park. After Pittsburgh opened the scoring 10 minutes in, forward Omar Sowe found the equalizer in the 28th minute off a pass from forward Jake LaCava. Pittsburgh scored twice in the second half to secure three points on the road.

New York currently sits in seventh place of the Atlantic Division, while Sacramento ranks seventh in the Pacific Division. They are coming off a 2-2 draw against Orange County SC on Saturday, July 24.

Following Saturday’s match, New York will begin a three-match homestand on Friday, August 6 against the Tampa Bay Rowdies. Kickoff from MSU Soccer Park is set for 7 p.m. ET.
