Match Preview: NYRB II Faces Tampa Bay Rowdies to Close Out Season Series

HARRISON, N.J. (October 14, 2021) – New York Red Bulls II (5-17-6, 21 points) will travel to face the Tampa Bay Rowdies (20-7-1, 61 points) on Friday, October 15. Kickoff from Al Lang Stadium is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET, with coverage available on ESPN+.

The two clubs will meet for the final time during the 2021 season, with Tampa Bay winning all three prior matches. After the first two matches were decided by one goal, Tampa Bay defeated New York 6-0 in the most recent meeting on September 11.

New York is coming off a narrow 2-1 defeat against the Charlotte Independence on Saturday, October 9. Goalkeeper AJ Marcucci recorded six saves in the contest, including a triple save on a penalty kick early in the second half.

Tampa Bay, led by former NYRB II goalkeeper Evan Louro, has recorded a clean sheet in almost half of their matches, leading the league with 13. They also have conceded the fewest number of goals, allowing just 21 in 28 matches.

New York currently sits in seventh place of the Atlantic Division, while Tampa Bay ranks first. They are coming off a 2-0 loss against Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC.

Following Friday’s match, New York will play at home for the final time this season on Wednesday, October 20 against Loudoun United FC. Kickoff from MSU Soccer Park is set for 7:00 p.m. ET, with coverage available on ESPN+.
