Match Preview: NYRB II Hosts San Antonio FC in First-Ever Meeting

HARRISON, N.J. (August 13, 2021) – New York Red Bulls II (3-10-4, 13 points) hosts San Antonio FC (6-5-6, 24 points) on Saturday, August 14 at MSU Soccer Park. Kickoff between New York and San Antonio is set for 7 p.m. ET. Coverage is available on ESPN+.

The match will be the second of the week for New York, as it fell 3-2 to the Charlotte Independence on Tuesday, August 10. Forward Omar Sowe scored twice in the contest, bringing his season total to a team-leading six goals. It marked his first multi-goal match of the 2021 campaign.

Saturday will be the first-ever meeting between the two clubs. New York fell 3-1 to Sacramento Republic FC on Saturday, July 31 in the only other match this season against a Western Conference opponent. It will be the final match for New York in a stretch in which it had to play three times in eight days.

New York currently sits in seventh place of the Atlantic Division, while San Antonio ranks fourth in the Mountain Division. They are coming off a 2-1 victory against Rio Grande Valley FC on Sunday, August 8.

Following Saturday’s match, New York will conclude its season-long four-match homestand on Friday, August 20 against Charleston Battery. Kickoff from MSU Soccer Park is set for 7:00 p.m. ET.
