This will be the 11th overall regular season meeting between New York and FC Cincinnati, with the Red Bulls holding the advantage in the series with a 4-3-3 mark. The Red Bulls have posted a 2-0-1 mark in three career matches in Cincinnati since FC Cincinnati joined MLS in 2019. New York have recorded a 0-1-1 mark against Cincinnati across all competitions this season, most recently a 2-1 loss on July 12 at Red Bull Arena.

Red Bulls midfielder Omir Fernandez has recorded two career goals against FC Cincinnati in his career, including scoring the lone goal for New York in the latest match between the two clubs. Fernandez has scored eight goals across all competitions this season, which leads the club and is a new-career high for goals in a single season by the Bronx, NY native. His six MLS goals this year is tied with Juan Agudelo (2011) for the most goals scored in a single season by a homegrown player in franchise history.

Following Wednesday’s match, New York return home to Red Bull Arena to hold their annual Fan Appreciation Night, where the Red Bulls will face Toronto FC on Saturday, October 7.
