Coming off their 11th-straight MLS CUP Playoff appearance and 21st overall, New York opens the 26th MLS Regular-Season with newly-hired Head Coach Gerhard Struber, 10 returning starters and 10 new additions for the 2021 season. It will be the second time that New York opens the season against Kansas City with the last time coming at Children’s Mercy Park to open the 2015 season. The 2015 season opener ended in 1-1 draw, which was the first match that Captain Sean Davis appeared in New York’s 18-man MLS regular-season roster.
