HARRISON, N.J. (August 20, 2021) –The New York Red Bulls (6-9-4, 22 points) host rivals New York City FC (9-6-4, 31 points) for the first New York Derby of the 2021 season. Kickoff at Red Bull Arena is set for 8 p.m. ET with coverage on FS1, FOX Deportes and New York Red Bulls Radio in English and Spanish via TuneIn, the New York Red Bulls app and NewYorkRedBulls.com.

New York Red Bulls Radio begins at 7:30 p.m. EST with Countdown to Kickoff, presented by Honda, hosted by Matt Harmon and Steve Jolley. Stefano Fusaro will carry the Spanish play-by-play responsibilities, beginning at 8 p.m. EST.

This will be ninth regular season meeting between the Red Bulls and New York City FC at Red Bull Arena. The Red Bull own a mark of 6-1-1, including wins in the last three editions of the New York Derby at Red Bull Arena. They have outscored New York City FC, 7-1, in those matches. NYCFC were on a six-match unbeaten streak, which extended from July 21 to August 14, before suffering a 1-0 defeat to Philadelphia Union on Wednesday. The last time out against NYCFC, the Red Bulls suffered a 5-2 defeat at Yankee Stadium on November 20, 2020.

The Red Bulls snapped a seven-match winless streak and earned their first win at Red Bull Arena since June 18, when they defeated Columbus Crew, 1-0, on Wednesday night. Academy Product John Tolkin scored the game-winner and his first career MLS goal. Tolkin has made 15 appearances this season and since his first start on May 29, he ranks tied for sixth in MLS in crosses/corners successful.

Goalkeeper Carlos Coronel earned his sixth clean sheet of the season and his fifth at Red Bull Arena. Coronel has tallied 24 saves at home this season, which is tied for seventh in MLS. The five clean sheets at home ranks tied for first in MLS this season. The Red Bulls have recorded 199 MLS regular-season clean sheets in franchise history, which puts them in sole possession of fifth place in league history.

Following Saturday’s match, New York welcomes Chicago Fire FC to Red Bull Arena for the second time this season on Saturday, August 28.
