HARRISON, N.J. (May 5, 2022) –The New York Red Bulls (5-2-2, 17 pts.) will welcome the Portland Timbers (2-3-5, 11 pts.) to Red Bull Arena on Saturday, May 7 for the first annual Star Wars Night. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. ET with coverage on MSG+, MSG GO, and New York Red Bulls Radio in English and Spanish via TuneIn, the New York Red Bulls app and NewYorkRedBulls.com.

Coverage on MSG+ begins at 6:30 p.m. ET with the Red Bulls Pregame show. Steve Cangialosi will have the primary play-by-play responsibilities and will be alongside Shep Messing.

New York Red Bulls Radio begins at 6 p.m. ET with Countdown to Kickoff, presented by Honda, hosted by Matt Harmon and Steve Jolley. Sebastian Videla, Ricardo Alonso Arce, and John Rengifo will carry the Spanish play-by-play responsibilities, beginning at 6:30 p.m. ET.

This will be the 11th meeting in regular season history between New York and Portland, with the Red Bulls holding the advantage with a 5-2-3 mark and a 3-1-1 mark at Red Bull Arena. New York is coming off their fifth straight road win to begin the season after defeating Chicago Fire FC, 2-1, in a comeback win on April 30. Portland are winless in their last three MLS matches and have not scored in 282 minutes of action. The Timbers are currently 10th in the Western Conference with 11 points.

The Red Bulls will be seeking their first home win of the season on Saturday. New York are 3-1-1 against Portland at Red Bull Arena in franchise history. In his first career MLS start at Red Bull Arena, midfielder Luquinhas recorded his first career MLS assist and tallied the assist on Patryk Klimala’s first goal against Chicago Fire FC this past Saturday. The Red Bulls have an expected goals of 17.46, which is the third highest in MLS this season.

Klimala registered his first career multi-goal game for New York in their win against Chicago Fire FC. He has now recorded three goals this season and 11 in his MLS career. He became the 28th player in franchise history to record double-digit goals and assists in his career with New York.
