WASHINGTON, D.C. (May 13, 2016) - The New York Red Bulls lost to D.C. United 2-0 on Friday night at RFK Stadium. The Red Bulls suffered their first regular season loss to D.C. United since August of 2014 after surrendering two first half goals.

The Red Bulls fell to 3-7-1 on the season, including a 0-4-1 on the road. New York is now 25-34-10 all-time against D.C., and 10-21-5 in games played at RFK.

D.C. took the lead in the 20th minute, with a long pass from midfielder Patrick Nyarko playing Marcelos Sarvas through the back line. Sarvas ran onto the ball and found Alvaro Saboria in front of goal for a tap-in finish.

The second goal came in the 43rd minute, with another long ball played forward to Lamar Neagle, connecting on a cross for Nyarko to finish.

The Red Bulls return home to host the Chicago Fire on Wednesday, May 18, at 7:30 p.m. (TV: MSG, MSG GO; RADIO: Red Bulls Radio on TuneIn). New York then heads to Yankee Stadium for the first New York Derby of the year against New York City FC on Saturday, May 21, as part of MLS Heineken Rivalry Week. Kickoff is scheduled for 3 p.m., with coverage on Fox and Red Bulls Radio.
