MATCH RECAP: New York’s season ends in Toronto

The New York Red Bulls earned a 1-0 win at BMO Field, but fell on away goals in the Audi 2017 MLS Cup Playoffs Eastern Conference Semifinals to Toronto FC, 2-2.

A tense first half that featured a number of flare-ups between Toronto and New York players boiled over as both teams headed down the tunnels at the half, resulting in straight red cards to Jozy Altidore and Sacha Kljestan for violent conduct.

The Red Bulls took the game on the day thanks to Bradley Wright-Phillips' redirection of a Daniel Royer shot.

New York pushed hard for another goal to win the series and advance to the Eastern Conference Finals, but Toronto held off the visitors to clinch the series on away goals.
