A Lewis Morgan golazo was not enough for the New York Red Bulls, as a penalty and a late strike by Cincinnati forward Brandon Vázquez gave Cincinnati their first ever playoff victory.

After a goalless first half, a 48th minute strike by Lewis Morgan, his 18th of the season, gave the Red Bulls a 1-0 lead.

Cincinnati thought they had found an equalizer shortly after, but it was deemed offside by VAR.

An Andres Reyes foul in the box gave Cincinnati a penalty opportunity in the 74th minute that was converted by Cincinnati midfielder Luciano Acosta.

Vázquez gave Cincinnati a lead in the 86th minute that they would not relinquish, despite 12 minutes of second half stoppage time.

Cincinnati will move on to face Philadelphia on Thursday, October 20 at Subaru Park.
