Defensive miscues cost the New York Red Bulls as they fell 3-0 to FC Cincinnati in game one of the series at TQL Stadium.

Two goals in the first half were more than enough for Cincinnati to take down the Red Bulls, who were coming off of a playoff win in which they scored five goals.

An 89th minute goal from Álvaro Barreal, his second of the match, put the dagger in the match.

A bright spot for the Red Bulls was the return of Serge Ngoma, who made his first appearance of the season after returning from injury.

The series will now turn to Red Bull Arena on November 4, where New York will look to even the series against Cincinnati.
