New York City-native Julian Hall scored the lone goal for Red Bull New York to take home all three points from New York City FC on Friday night, 1-0.
Hall was able to jump on a slowly-paced pass back, round the goalkeeper and slot it into the back of the net.
"I’m super pumped after the win," Hall said. "It was a massive fight from the team. It was not easy, so we’re just happy."
Hall scored his 10th goal of the season and becomes the youngest player in MLS history to score 10 goals in a single season at 18 years and 178 days old.Â
"Yeah, it’s a big win," Head Coach Michael Bradley said. "Really, really important three points when you get to the end of the year and you’re coming down the stretch, you play teams in your conference who are around you, could be a little bit above, could be a little bit below. Those become important points. Obviously you combine that with a Derby, and it’s a big thing. We’re really proud of the group."
The forward’s 10 goals are the third-most single season goals scored by a teenager in MLS history.
The Manhattan, N.Y. native scored his second career goal against NYCFC.
New York also saw Ethan Horvath stand tall in goal, turning away multiple point-blank shots. The center back duo of Julian Bazán and Tim Parker were dominant at the back.
Horvath made four saves on the night.
"Ethan has been ready to make some big plays," Bradley said. "He’s been there for us and the guys in the back, but in reality it’s the guys in the back and the midfielders and the attackers coming back. There’s a lot of guys who make some big plays, some big blocks, some really hard reactions. That’s the sign of a real team."
Horvath and the Red Bulls earned their fourth clean sheet of the season and the third in their last four matches.
