MatchRecap_16x9

The Red Bulls needed three points on Wednesday night. The Red Bulls got three points on Wednesday night.

First half goals from former FC Cincinnati player Frankie Amaya, followed by a wonder goal from Elias Manoel, was enough to secure three points on the road against FC Cincinnati, who had secured the Supporters' Shield this past Saturday.

While the match was set up for a celebration for Cincinnati, the Red Bulls came in with a sense of urgency and quickly jumped to a 2-0 lead before 20 minutes had been played.

Frankie Amaya got the Red Bulls party started with a goal from outside the box, assisted by Luquinhas.

It was Amaya's fifth goal of the season across all competitions and first against his former club.

Elias Manoel ended his scoring drought with a volley off of a cross from John Tolkin, who added to his team-leading total of assists with his ninth across all competitions.

It was the first time in an MLS regular season match that Cincinnati had trailed by more than one goal at home.

Another goal from Manoel was called back and cancelled out by VAR, which determined that Andrés Reyes had handled the ball in the penalty area.

Luciano Acosta converted from the spot, but that was as close as Cincinnati would get.

It was only New York's third road victory of the season, but it was also their second consecutive win away from home. The Red Bulls will now travel back to Red Bull Arena to take on Toronto FC for Fan Appreciation night on Saturday night at 7:30pm ET.
