MATCH RECAP, pres. by Provident Bank: Red Bulls, Crew Split Points at Sports Illustrated Stadium

MR vs CLB 16x9

The New York Red Bulls and Columbus Crew battled to a scoreless draw at Sports Illustrated Stadium, with RBNY picking up a crucial point in a push toward the playoffs.

"We are frustrated that we didn't win this game today," Head Coach Sandro Schwarz said. "When we are looking to this performance against a really good team, we played, for me, especially against the ball, very well. Dominant against the ball and very intense to find the right moment in our pressing, in our back four behavior, every time to step out. This was, for me, good. Especially in the first half, [we had] a lot of good chances, but I'm pretty sure we have the quality to score."

New York allowed just one shot on goal all night, as Carlos Coronel notched his ninth clean sheet of the year.

This maked the 100th clean sheet at Sports Illustrated Stadium in MLS regular season play.

"I'm really satisfied with the performance," Schwarz said. "We are a little bit disappointed with the result, that's clear, but about the performance for me to be honest was one of the best games especially against the ball for me."

Gustav Berggren made his MLS debut in the match, subbing on late in the second half.

"I'm very happy to make my debut," Berggren said. "I think the fans were very good and good team performance. So, we need to keep going. It was nice to get my first minutes and hopefully more to come."

Following Saturday’s match, the FIFA International Break will run from September 1 to September 9. Following the break, New York will head to Providence Park to face off against the Portland Timbers on Saturday, September 13.

"Thank you for coming out," Noah Eile said of the fans. "As always, we appreciate it. I think the support has been great at home this year, so yes, we were thankful, and hopefully they can keep coming out for the last couple of games."

Kickoff is set for 10:30 p.m. ET with coverage on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV in English and Spanish, and New York Red Bulls Radio presented by Sports Illustrated in English via the New York Red Bulls app and NewYorkRedBulls.com.
